The Week that Was 22 – 29 April 2012

Well, I think I may have been the only person in the movie blogging world who did not see The Avengers this week.  Do I have a good excuse, well no not really just the usual complexities of life ensuring my screenings were restricted to a single trip to the cinema to see American Reunion.  You can check out the review here.

I did manage to get in a re-watch of David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which I still think is pretty impressive, but ultimately confused.  Mrs Malone had not seen it so we threw it on on Saturday night.  As we watched it I began to ponder how you approach a film if you are already fully aware of the source material, keep your eyes peeled for a post on this topic later on in the week.

The biggest highlight for me this week though was Letterboxd finally opening its doors to the general public.  As appears normal at the moment, I came to Letterboxd very late compared to everyone else, but I am pretty hopelessly addicted to it now.  Letterboxd is a social site for sharing your taste in film. You can use it as a diary to record your opinion about films as you watch them, or just to keep track of films you’ve seen in the past and maintain a current watchlist of movies you want to check out.  You are also able to rate, review and tag films as you add them.  One particular thing that I like is you are able to see what your friends have watched during the week.  I find it fascinating to see the cross section of films that people watch. I urge you to check it out, but be warned – it will suck time out of you like no-one’s business.

How was your week?
